Phelios Releases Modern Shoot em up

  • Phelios announced the release of their Shoot 'em Up game, Kaijin, another game created using their in-house PTK engine.

Phelios' Patrice Krysztofiak wanted to create a new Shoot 'em Up taking retro inspired qualities of a side scrolling game and adding his own modern twists. His desire was for Kaijin to have the feel of a classic Shoot 'em Up, but improve on its performance and attributes by infusing content never before seen in a game of its kind. For example, the weapon system embraces the concept of having the power-ups tied to the health bar, so in effect, the player really has one life but can extend it or reduce it
depending on his weapon power. Additionally, there's a squid-like bug that lays eggs on the board, and if the player does not eliminate these eggs promptly, they'll hatch into fluttering flies or other mutant bugs.

Another original feature of Kaijin is a Mega laser, which is a homing laser using Bezier Splines so it looks like a flexible pipe. This latter element exploits a new feature of the game engine, PTK.
