sorry, but i am not sure about the error message u r reporting. maybe answers to theses questions might help:

do u run Vista?
do u run all as administrator?
do u have permissions for the freelancer path?
did u remove any read only attribute from folders and files in ur freelancer path?
did u delete previously saved games (including "restart.fl")?
