The same problem occured with my game as well. When the data is loaded (480 last) and it says "DONE", I click "run multiplayer" and then I wait 2 secs and it says "Can't load Multiplayer... [E5]"

for reference, here is a full list of launcher error codes:
Code- Crossfire Update not found ... only Singleplayer available [E1] --> connection problem to update-server (firewall configuration ok?)
- Crossfire Update not found ... only Singleplayer available [E2] --> trouble with downloading files from update-server (or no right to write into freelancer path)
- Crossfire Update not found ... only Singleplayer available [E3] --> trouble with certain Windows versions (install the CF patch)
- Crossfire Update not found ... only Singleplayer available [E4] --> trouble while downloading files from update-server (or no right to write into freelancer path)
- Problem starting Multiplayer ... [E5] --> corrupt installation (or no right to write into freelancer path)
- Problem starting Multiplayer ... [E6] --> corrupt installation
- Problem starting Singleplayer ... [E7] --> corrupt installation (or no right to write into freelancer path)

please check, if u use admin rights or do have write permission to the freelancer path.
remove any read only attributes form the freelancer files and folders, please. -

it was my disk drive
i had to recheck it to fix a few problys
