    ok... i have solved the issue of the internet access and disconnection while downloading but ITS NOT OVER


    before you ask Hagar, i want to say yes i did the clean install....and yes ive looked through the CF guide


    heres my problem: i start the launcher and everything i cool..it downloads all 8 file in a few seconds (around 3 or 4) next thing i know the "start multiplayer' key is open and up and ready i click on it and the launcher closes and the next thing it does is


    thats the thing, it does nothing it just stops ther no error message, no "this program has stopped responding, you chose to end a unresponsive program" nothing, same thing with single player...


    i checked FLMM and the mod is activated, the mod version at the top f the launcher says v1.56, and the freelancer icon does havee the red CF across the bottom..


    i have alos tried to pass freelancer through the firewall and even shut the firewall down..nothing


    what do i do?

    Have you tried just waiting after it closes for a few minutes? I know on occasion when the launcher kicks CF into gear there can be a long delay after the launcher closes before the game begins to run. It's probably something else, but it's worth throwing out there. :)

    there is something wrong with ur copy of cf. do the entire cf guide again, step by step, and follow it thoroughly.


    i hope u r not experiencing other computer problems on ur computer (might b spyware, virus or maybe even something worse).

    sounds like you may still have some old saved games or data on your system. go into your computer - c drive - program files - microsoft games. delete the freelancer folder. download a fresh copy of crossfire and do a reinstall.
    ive had the same problems before and sometimes its been ok if i just do a reboot tho - no doubt you've tried that tho ;)

    When I used to have old computers, I used to have a method for fixing stuff like this.


    I booted up, then stopped it at the command line. I then formatted my hard drive. Next, I inserted my old Windows 98 SE CD, and re-installed Windows.


    Those were the good old days..... the days where everytime something went majorly wrong, you just wiped the whole hard drive :D


    But yeah.... delete save games. I had that once before.
