Tried the suggestion of the uninstallers above, uninstalled everything. Ran Freelancer… -

Replied to the thread Cannot Launch Freelancer Crossfire - DLL Errors.PostI checked directplay is enabled. I tried to reinstall freelancer and the crossfire mod to the C:\ drive per the suggestion above (each reinstall I delete the freelancer folder form "my games").
I launch the game from the "Launch Crossfire Mod" shortcut… -
