Hello, if you still play campaign, please stick to fighters ... storyline is made exclusively to these ship types. Capships have own shield. For theirs equip you need to buy turrets (for battleships and dreadnoughts), scanner and tractor, this is all. For VHFs equipment is good idea check CF wiki.
