I'm trying to play on Linux via wine, Freelancer itself works great but I cannot install crossfire due to a problem with the installer. The installer provided crashes at the "Select components to install..." stage. Is it possible to just get a zip file rather than the installer? An flmod version would also work. Alternatively, what compression method do the two .bin files use? I quickly tried to manually extract them but they're not just zip files.

Nevermind, I've found a workaround the installer has a few command line switches and it's possible to bypass most of the UI. For anyone who might find it useful: wine Crossfire2Setup.exe /SILENT
