OP when I last had a problem with the Armoured Transport I flew straight to Regalis through Custodian and bought the ship with no problems. But on an attempt to leave the station it hung up and crashed to my desktop. When I went back in I was back in my Starflyer. No special equipment except for what came with the Starflyr.
