Actually, you can do group missions.Invite a friend of yours to a group, and one of ya dock somewhere and take any mission. Once you accept the mission, both of you will be briefed with the mission objectives. My personal recomendation would be to take on those missions where u have to kill stations, and clear the area of fighters after. So that one of you take on the station, and the other one give cover by destroying the fighters. You already can do that.

As i said, you already can do that, but only with another player. Now doing it with another NPC, only on the same faction, those would be the backups, avaible is some missions too.
