I found similar errors regarding screen, especially Windowed mode.Can you tell which options you use in CF Launcher (mine is attached)I recommend that you try to run your Windows in full screen (i assume you have a windowed Windows in Parallel) at resolution 1920x1080. Then start CF (don't use Windowed option and Vanilla shader)

If you can't get updates that's a problem. Did you get a lot of updates first time you launched CF 2.0 (more than 100 files ) ? I suspect Apple OS security software is blocking for updates (network interface on Windows is a virtual one running on Apple OS ). Maybe you can disable that and try again. Your launcher looks a bit odd compared to mine, but that might be Windows 8.1 "feature". Have Attached my picture
