In singleplayer, it may be better to stick to fighters and freighters, trains work better when used in cooperation with other players. Also, some bases later on in story can only be docked by fighters and freighters.My favourite ships in single player are APC freighter, Bullpup Mk III freighter or Deathblade VHF (both are great for podding)
