Crossfire is the most complex FL mod, with over 3700 modified files. It also has a major division between server-side and client-side files, to make the dynamic economy possible. CF 1.8 will integrate all the changes that have been done to the custom launcher, server- and client files, so installation and launching will be much simpler. CF1.8 will likely debut in the next month or so; meanwhile, follow the installation instructions exactly, and you will experience the joy that is CF!

Once the installation instructions have been completed, the launcher only has to update 8 files each time CF is launched. If you are seeing more than this, the installation was simply not done correctly. I change mods from time to time, but I have not had to re-install FL for more than 1 year, because I had the patience to follow the instructions completely...
