To get to Chugoku use the one of the jump holes. If you're playing the storyline and it's a problem, you've either got to advance the story more or turn off your 3D sound. If the 3D sound thing doesn't work (it fixes a lot of problems in both SP and MP), maybe a reinstall of it would work. On the other hand it could be something else.
