Yep there is not much point adding ships that are not competitive with the Shroud. If the agility, hull stength and wep slots are inferior to the existing elite ships then they wont get used by most people. Its true that it does add a small bit of fun to swap ships around. However, as soon as ppl start loosing in pvp to the shrouds and saracens they will quickly change to them. So OP I would not waste your time unless u are going to make any new ships truly competitive.
