Is this the very first mission?Well... after accepting it, I think you can buy a Patriot. I personally used Patriot with four Lavablades Mk3. Sure, they've got slow projectile, but I tended to get rather close and personal, and I used half-salvo rapidfiring. Perhaps you could use a Rhino if you're fine with hiding in a metal bawks less agility but more firepower.

In the 2nd mission you can go for Defender. But what you describe (telling off Juni and then CTD when trying to buy a ship) happens before the first mission.(Case in point, convoy escorting and then searching for the Rogue base is both the first mission).Strange. I'm awful at combat and I'm finding the NPCs manageable.
