Hubris, the power generators are essencial to the existance of powerful, power-guzzling lv 10 weapons. If there were no boosters than NPC VHF combat would be very diffult (if not imposible for the noobs). The same goes for the shield booster. They are upgrades and though they make the combat easy, keep in mind that it encourages players to talk to people and explore to find them. It's not a matter of saving up the money as much as finding the best ways to spend it.
