Is there some obvious weak component? Is worth use other component with similar price? (this setup above is on my maximum budget) -
I use atm more as 10years old PC with gtx960 card. With some luck I can keep case, cpu coller (same monster as todays) and noctua ventilators and HDDs one 5400rpn and one 7200rpm disk. VR is tempting but that is not for me due various reasons. I want good PC which can be upgraded during next '10' years with single part change. .. It's pc for gaming -
Time-frame for upgrade is rather short (few months) ... RL (read wife) is not against, so I not want wait too long (shorter time is better ...)MB choice was random (checked what my shop have for chosen CPU), in local shop there is 130E for this oneI need USB slots on PC back only, and I need 4 slots (ideally 4xUSB2.0 and 2.USB3.0) - hotas needs 2 slots, mouse 1x and next one (one from 3.0) I use for phone (used as router on 4G internet ... have unlimited data there )Sound is ok only build in, I … -
I have full ATX case (have there M4A77T/USB3 Asus MB) so there should be not issues (I hope ). But there is one other thing which I'm not sure about and it is windows which I have ... it was originally purchased in 2010 as Windows Home Premium CZ 64bit OEM (have installation CD) and is installed now as Win 10! on my 7200rpm HDD. I ofc want have system installed on new SSD (plus have mentioned old HDD in PC too) and this whole PC is practically new one ... question is: can be my windows used/tra… -
(Quote from Martind Forlon)Hmm, I wanted ask (before decide to push "order"), for gaming purposes, is worth think about Intel Core i5-8600K? In real it means the need to buy also separate cooler (which I5-8400 have in package) and price difference is 185€ (8400) vs 277-290€ (8600K + separate cooler). It seems too much ... I also changed memory to HyperX Predator_ DDR4 16GB (Kit 2x8GB) 3200MHz CL16 DIMM 1.35, but here is price difference only around 20€. -
With new MB I can go (in time) with better processor if needed and also better graphic card. Money wise it is: more for old CPU plus cheaper old MB versus cheaper new CPU and more costly new MB. Price is more or less the same, but this new CPU imo looks good also due low power requirements (is better for my power-supply). From links below is for me winner new i5 platform bcs there will be more years before I will be able at least start thinking about changing my gaming PC core-internals (single… -
First phase of upgrade is going on, ordered parts:CPU Silentium PC Fera 3 HE1224 v2, 120mm fan (can use my old own noctua fan or add it as 2nd one) CPU INTEL Core i5-8400 (2.8GHz, 9MB, 6j) LGA1151 Coffee_Lake, 65WSilentiumPC Fera 3 HE1224 v2 DIMM Kingston HyperX Predator_DDR4 16GB (Kit 2x8GB) 3200MHz CL16 DIMM 1.35V HD SAMSUNG SSD 960 EVO MZ-V6E250, 250GB MB MSI Z370 TOMAHAWK, s.1151 All this stuff is in stock in local shop so will see how it will be with windows install MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Ti … -
JUST WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! I love it ... SSD is amazing @Portalearth I use atm my "old" GPU (i.e. GTX 960 Gaming 2G) and costs for upgrade (PC parts as stated above) was little below 700€. I'm now doing reinstall for stuff and will need solve also some old PC parts like my 120Gb disk and DVD mechanic which uses old IDE ... But 2nd HDD (bigger) have SATA already and is running well. ... installation W10 with activation needed less as hour ... I still can't believe it (btw my "old" W7 key was wo… -
(Quote from Portalearth).. hmmm, if the Nvidia production would be not such a tragic mess, I would upgrade to 1060 already (960 is not bad, but I alas have only 2G version). But the card which I want is not in local shop .. there is not any nvidia recent card at all!!! (and sellers are very pesimistics about its availability), plus its price has rised during last 2! months by 50% and more. I can order it on Amazon.de ... but, just NO (price is high) ... I simply will wait now till this crazines… -
(Quote from Portalearth)Is this shop with good prices? ... hmm, I think I have 1 such shop (which is reliable) at disposal, but they are "empty" atm. But I set there today price-checker and will wait ... they are only one which keep lower price so I will buy card there if it will stay this way. Short feedback to ED installation: I can recommend install this game on SSD, difference is really noticeable and this not only for game loading (now game starts in few seconds), but also during play (uns… -
Thx! I was looking at the card when the benchmarking demo was started and they both started spinning few seconds after testing started. I was looking on the card from 10 cm and I did not hear any increased/additinal sound. People opinions which I read in advance seem were exactly like it is ... I'm usually littlebit sceptic to avoid disappointment, but that was not needed ... -
I know that it is little necroposting ... but in last few weeks I was thinking if to upgrade CPU from Intel Core i5-8400 to Intel Core i9-9900KF (which is available in local shops for 330-355 € and should be compatible with MB). Dunno if it is good idea or not .. see note below.Actual PC:MB MSI Z370 TOMAHAWK, s.1151 (with latest bios 04/2021)PS Seasonic Energy Knight SS-500ET, T3 500WCPU INTEL Core i5-8400 (2.8GHz, 9MB, 6c) LGA1151 Coffee_Lake, 65WCPU Silentium PC Fera 3 HE1224 v2, 120mm fanDIMM… -
SilentiumPC Fera 3 HE1224 v2 should handle 180W, is still available in local shops (middle priced coolers with good reviews). I hit roof regularly with old CPU so yes, I want to get better one. I also do not intend to overclock it (never liked do it), so I hope cooling will be ok. What I'm not so completely sure is power source which I have ... it works with setup above perfectly well and stable, but dunno how to check power needs for new CPU. Is obvious that I will need new PS when will do grap…
