I believe that if you use pauses in campaign (i.e. Order HQ in Sol, GMG_Research F. in Omega-3) you can comfortably explore and buy ships/equipment like you need/want it. But combine this with autosave usage, and you are doomed. OP looked few times on these saves and if I remember well what was said, it was something like that they are full of random garbage which shouldn't be there at all.
