I'm running Win 7, and had relatively little trouble when I followed the instructions in the FAQ/guides exactly and in the correct sequence, including the advice about adding your graphic card manually. Skipping steps can lead to trouble, at least in my experience. As a general piece of advice I'd say to not be shy about rebooting your PC after each major step in the process.
