Ai is fine. If you do not get along in a place go where the level of NPCs is a little lower and ascend again when you manage easily. For me e.g. the CSF missions in X-3034 where always very risky, nowadays I manage them pretty good. Still I think that the coalition rogues are pretty tough and if I manage them I will go for the Aliens. @Martind for sure rapid fire roxx, but if some people start playing rapid fire or engine kill I think are too much to be expected The Hermes is really worth a try…
