There are bases in Altair systems....... Coalition pilots need to rearm and get a drink in the bar. But the coalition pilots can dock without using docking rings. The nomads do have a base in Altair, in Styx, but due to their shield normal fighters (read: players) cannot dock there. They will not bring the shield down for you. Going to Altair means that you just need to make sure your ship is properly equiped and that you should be ready to take on every opponent.

Imho there is one destablisating power in the world: The USA . If you would look at a lot of small or bigger wars of the past 50 years, the USA always played a big part in it. Either to fight the Soviet Union or to benefit from the local resources (look at Iraq).

Jibby, a lot of western europe-countries pay more to aid per head of the population than the US. About your last question: United Nations And of course the Europe Union to negotiate. We do not have a united europe army (I hope it will not come either), so we talk. Unless the Americans who all have a shotgun behind the door, a loaded magnum in the drawer for their kids to grab, and start shooting.
