point behind docking rings: controlled re-entry in RL you can re-enter the atmosphere but it wasnt 100% certain that you wouldnt burn up or be able to pull out of terminal velocity. Docking rings in Freelancer make it safer to re-enter. so its more like the after-alliance research found ways to make re-entry safer, not the other way round

well you can in the openSP, though not sure if you can get allied rep with them. oh, and in SL-RB you can be either side, there'll be a rep bribe at Earth

last i heard OP was at about 40% done with it......so i guess in the next two months at least.....

OP already has a plan set up for RB, Reborn and Crossfire will run on different servers
