PostI'm testing Windows 8.1 atm and it's a really good one. Automatic detection and installation of missing components as directplay and .Net Framework 3.5 - pretty coolI also bought a SSD disc and did a clean install, which I also recommend. Maybe some day you go for an upgrade -

PostI you follow this guide How to eradicate Metro from your Windows 8.1 PC | PCWorld and buy the Stardock’s $5 Start8, Metro UI is pretty much gone and Windows ->7 Desktop is back.I settled with hitting ESC-key every time I left-click "Start" button, instead of right-clicking. I don't have the All Programs menu though, but I put my programs in the desktop taskbar and the desktop (like allways).Forgot to tell that you need a Microsoft Account for setting Windows up (but I am not 100% about this) -
