@ your 1# issue :Probably you have killed the first wave too fast. I think there is - at least sometimes - not only an "event"trigger for the next part, but also a "time"trigger.Take your time to "play" with the first wave. (miiaouuuu) @ your 2# issue : They don't vanish, they are just "bumped" away" by you , sometimes more than 3k away (encountered once this distance). Depends on how "hard" you bump them. If you wait long enough they will return.
