I remember that I simply used only formation, not touched anything, not cruise if they go only on normal speed and when was there small attacking surprise I killed them as fast as possible and again used formation. And do not get me wrong ... I did mistake with which train to form and was worried what is going on .. so this is reason why I posted this hint ... after load mission autosave undock immediately, enter asap formation and only restore it after jumps ... with patience you will be ok.
