If you've played any significant amount of the original, there should be plenty of signs that you're in crossfire. The fastest one would be to hit your cruse engine and take a look at your top speed. Crossfire maxes out at about 450 (kph?) whereas I'm pretty sure the vanilla freelancer peaks at 300. furthermore, when you defeat an enemy in crossfire and tractor in the remains, you should collect an escape pod from most enemies. That feature was not a part of freelancer. hope this helps =]
