How many people have been having problems with running Freelancer and/or Freelancer mod? How many people have tried turning 3D sound off? If you are having ANY problems with FL and you have not checked 3D sound OFF, TRY IT! My friend had even started mucking about with drivers and fresh installs of windows XP before I came over and took one look at his FL game and turned this option off... what would you know the game works fine now... He was getting blue screens and freezes but this fixed it!

I have also been realising the only problems with games I have had are AUDIO caused... like in Stalker shadow of chernobyl I have random short freezes just before you hear certain sounds, dogs barking, giger counter... wierd... must try changing some settings or trying out a sound card...
