Remember that the original ASF CSF is hundreds of years old, if not close to a 1000. So the new story can have a tidbit of background from the time ASF fled SOL, but it needs to be brought to modern times. The ASF flourished for 800 years before the CSF emerged into Sirius. When a Dimensional Rift leading to SOL was discovered in Hyperion, this is what allowed the CSF to find it's way to Sirius. I'm sure the ASF thought the bitterness and war was "over", but they guessed wrong.
