Life is what happens when you are making other plans...^^ My ISP (the phone company) sent some flakes over to hook me up with fiber optic internet, with a new modem. The flakes came early, never told us they were there, and left us with no internet service. Next day I call the ISP, and they say they'll send someone out at the original scheduled time to finish the job. Meanwhile, the flake shows up early, and now we have no dial tone, either. This is after I find out I no longer have a job, due …

Well, as expected, the flakes at the ISP needed another 2 days & 3 more phone calls to finally get my internet access fixed. But I finally have home access, which is good since I have no office now :-| At least I can now do an efficient job search, since surprisingly few companies bother to advertise job openings in newspapers anymore... I should be back on schedule tomorrow for my normal SWAT/CF duties.

Well, my new fiber-optic connection lasted 2 whole weeks before dropping off the planet... My ISP finally located & repaired the error (one of their own network switching cards in a local junction box), but I lost another 3 days of 'net connection. I'm glad to see there was a lot to catch up on! See you on the server soon

Just when I thought things were smoothing out...my main HDD died over the weekend [3] Fortunately, I had just finished rebuilding my OS on my replacement HDD, and most of the data on the old one had been backed up on my external USB HDD. Unfortunately, I think I did lose ome data, but I'm sure I still have probly 98% of what was on the old one. Well, now I am employed again, at least for a while. Soon as I can figure out the CF install again, I'll be back on the server! Then, today, I accidentally stepped on a board full of nails, and at least 2 of them pierced right through the sole of my shoe into my foot... OUCH!! Now I will be hobbling around for a week or so, until the swelling goes down...
