please follow the "Installation Instructions" in the CF Guide. if running Vista: don't forget to do all as admin. check if all the files and directories within ur Freelancer path have the read only attribute removed. some firewalls on Vista do not allow FL to connect to servers (any of them) - in this case use AVG instead (just deactivating eg Norton does not help, but only a complete deinstallation)
