  • I had that problem too, a WD SATA II and I used The Ultimate Boot CD ( UBCD ) to access the SATA HDD, you can use that to extract the NTLDR from the windows CD to the SATA drive. It also has a disk checking utility that will show if the hdd has any bad sectors. As it happens, my WD 300 gig drive was damaged about 1 gig into the hdd and has now been replaced.
