TeamSpeak and MSN, ICQ etc. Will not affect connection one bit if they're idle or are using minimal bandwidth. TS can be configured to use very little bandwidth and msn and other IM's use next to nothing. Server crashes imo are server side, or are caused by exploiting of the client to crash the server.
