You'll need to do that exploration in MP, unless you can get a fully-equipped VHF together in SP (I never had the patience to do that). By fully-equipped, I mean with ALL the possible upgrades to shields, power generator, armor, thruster, guns, etc. 1st-rate VHF runs about $60-65 million, and I've rarely met anyone who spent that much time on SP game. DK are tough, but not so bad when you have the right equipment & experience with their tactics...
