    If I may, religion was born because people needed a way to explain phenomena. Whenever in doubt it's some sort of supreme being that made it so. Science inadvertently came about when Greek philosophers tried to learn about reality - the light after death they said that eventually got some more bells and whistles attached and a few centuries later became known as heaven.
