there are serveral notes about this around a few forums and evan a few explaing why as i had to do a search myself as i had a simerler problem .

however you can get around this by temporaraly disabling antivirus if your only playing the game this shouldnt be to much of a problem .

now im not saying that any1 should leave themselfs unprotetced but if your not curently downloading anything while playing this game
from any of the numorous download sites those ligit and those not it shouldnt cause a problem .

it is also worth noteing that the virus protection on windows 7 is actualy preaty good however i have not had it running since i use a 3rd party out of habbit so have no idea if this will cause problems with FL/CF
if your running wiondows 7 disable your current virus checker and try the inbuilt programe you never know.

failing that some virus checkers alow you to add exceptions so you may be able to tell your virus checker that those in FL actuly are ok and not to panic

its also worth noteing that if your running vista or higher to run CF as administrator otehrwise youll have more exception errors after instaling with the virus disabled

ive been fairly lucky im a new player to crossfire but have been playing freelancer since release i came on the multiplayer about 3-4 days ago and have had some help from online players and not been ganked
aside from the odd batch of pirates lol
so not every1 is disobaying the rules....
and it still is fun if a little hard to begin with for a noob like me however i have upgraded my ship a couple times and made some money
as for the portal after i downloaded the mod i searched for the swat portal and joind the forum
however if you want people to came back to the forum just an idea but why not add the forum into the crossfire download with an auto direct straight hear

hey all
firstly i have to admit the game was a bit fo a shock to the system i nearly passed out and throw my pc out the window when my first pirate regend his shilds damn its tough at the bigining but worth it i realy realy realy recomend giving it a whirl i just picked up FL again and was rather pleased to find so many mods and this has to be my fave so far however when you get it working that is ......
i dont know if its been posted anywhere else but for those useing windows7 64bit there are a couple of thing you have to do to get it to run

first makesure FL is a complete new install I.E uninstall FL then reinstal it
2nd make sure antivirus is turn off (depending what you use i had 3 trojans aparently acording to AVG)
3rd and most important make sure you instal FLMM as admin righclick the icon slect run as admin
4th repeat the process with crossfire mod
and it should run however i did find that although this worked when i disabled the mod after to change some of my settings it wouldnt restart and i had to go throw all the process again
