well with my contacts in MS in several departments they say chances are good that i can get the source code, however saying that they are unsure of the process.

I do not expect MS to just give me the source code for nothing. I expect them to come back with a license fee requirement amongst other requirements. Matter of fact i am counting on them doing so. As this would allow me to legally develop a commercial product from it.

So until i get word back from my contact in MS i have basically put SL2 on the slowest possible boat to china i could find. Just not too interested in MS coming at me with both gun barrels blasting.

Until all this is sorted i picked up an old game idea, brushed off the dust, updated the design and have since been flying with it.

Once i hear back from MS, which is hopefully soon i can update the SL and FL communities i deal with on the status of the projects.

So meanwhile i trudge along with the art and coding of my active project.

Ok, probably a dead thread at this point, but either way i am gonna respond as the one whom 'owned' samurai studios.

First, the reason the link is dead is because the domain was STOLEN from me quite some time ago, and after a lengthy battle with a certain domain provider i lost all chances of retrieving it.

But i am not one to give up easily, so i reopened SS under the name: Roland Dynamics with a matching .com domain. Site is still being worked on because of a large project under way at the moment.

Now about Starlancer 2. This project was NOT, i repeat NOT a mod to any other game in existance. It was using a game engine in purchased. And have since done extensive recoding of to make is space sim worthy, but even saying that i am not happy with the outcome of that code just yet, so more coding is underway.

Saying that however, i have been in talks with Microsoft about obtaining the source code to one of thier game engines. This is a long process, and not something that will happen overnight, but if success full a 'Starlancer 2' and Freelancer 2 will be produced. some of the 3d assets form the old SL2 project will be recycled, redone and updated.

Starlancer 2 is a series project , and has been put back to the design stage because of some critical design flaws that have come to our attention. So thus, SL 2 is at a slow redesign phase.

There is alot about the SL2 project that i am not at liberty to say, mainly because of the core engine being somewhat up in the air. One thing is for certain at this point, SL2 will at this point be an unofficial release, not endorsed by or authorized by Microsoft, which is another reason it is on a slow road. I need to cover my legal bases before i make any type of release.

Microsoft could crush me just by blinking in my direction so i need to be careful with what i do with the SL2 project And any ideas of a FL2.

Hopefully that helps explain a few things.
