    i must say im new here,but so far i have been impressed when reading up and all the work involved,i have enjoyed playing CF here,and i can say for myself that it is "THE BEST MOD" for freelancer around
    OP,i can say im very grateful for all the work you have done and im also sure im not nearly the only one who feels that way


    CF deserves to live on despite all difficulties,and i would help carry the torch if i could,but quite frankly i suck at FL modding... if you`d do it in morrowind engine that might be different but thats not much of a help...


    i ask you,for all our sakes,please let it live on... even with other people involved and working on your creation
    you have done excellent work, i think it would only be a tribute to yourself,and only FAIR, if it could continue to evolve and live on

    i have to jump in here and make a comment....
    1) every living organism is essentially a biomechanical machine of some type,even "we" are
    2) ancient species are very unlikely to rely on technological assistance, they must have advanced genetic engineering techniques, or would be able to manipulate their evolution and development by external stimulae, forcing their bodies to adapt and evolve in the way they want (remember DK use biological ships)


    it has been proven over and over that technology as we know it has very strict limits, species like that would utilize much more subtle manipulation (ex. computers based on molecular or quantum technology, bio constructs instead of machines,extensive use of sophisticated nanotechnology etc)


    but im sure we can debate this for years without comming into any real conclusion anyway :-D

    i always liked hot evil alien chicks, its a cliche and its everywhere,yes, but that doesnt make it any less appealing :P
    plus the squid head on her is awesome, goes well with how the DK ships look if u ask me


    and nomads always seemed more like some aquatic crawlers to me anyway, so it makes perfect sence to me

    and meanwhile i recommend that we as players keep telling all the newbies that they should restart from launcher each time

    i kind of got to like the explosions damaging ships.... afterall theres a ton of ordinance and fuel exploding,theres bound to be some damage from that if ure close enough


    as about the capital ships,ill be more than happy to flood you with my rediculous and crazy ideas if ure interested, always happy to contribute to something i like :P
    im sure you thought of most of this already but ill say it anyway.....


    my base idea was to "basically" make them 10x-20x stronger (with shielding massive enough to simply ignore a certain number of normal fighters shooting it) and their weapons extremely slow, either in flight speed,tracking speed or both
    possibly make the guns fire missiles with low tracking and speed
    at the same time bombers would need to recieve ability to fit similar guns or get a boost on torpedoes (equally slow so they wouldnt hit fighters)
    one concern with this approach is not to blow off all weapons from the capship when a first torp breaches the shield, so either low blast radius (directional explosives?) or boost the capital weapon/equip HP


    im sure i missed a few points and if ure not interested in hearing it ill just shut up :P

    the "shipyard" stations could get their mooring fixtures or get the mooring points fixed,and it wouldnt even hurt if they wouldnt sell any trade goods worth mentioning


    you have to admit that shipyards not being able to accomodate capital ships is ridiculous


    on other concerns about capital ships, i think they should be made more like capital ships
    since now im driving a kusari destroyer,i can tell you that based on its defensive capabilities, i would classify it as a frigate at best,maybe even just a corvette


    capital ships are built to last, not blow up after 30 seconds of combat


    edit: i dont mean make them invulnerable bringers of death,i mean make them virtually untouchable by fighters,vulnerable to bombers,and pain in the arse to hit small targets with them

    let me rephrase it then,not "less balance" but "more specialization"
    the ships are too similar


    and one more thing,IMPORTANT thing


    i just got a kusari destroyer,and im having a hard time docking anywhere even when the station has a moor point
    please fix capital ship docking
    if its not supposed to dock somewhere,just remove the option to dock there,dont make poor sods like me get stuck every time they try

    thats the biggest pile of nonsence i ever saw.... i like it :P


    i would like to see more variety in 1.9
    atm all the "equal" ships have similar or outright identical stats,there are only few types of worthwhile equipment and guns,etc etc


    i would love to see more types of weapons (beams plz :P ) with different refire rates and hull/shield damages, more shields (buffer types,recharge types,mixed types) etc
    also adding upgrade equipment would be nice,with a drop chance from certain NPCs (remember TNG mod anyone?)


    i say we have too much balance right now, screw it and go for variety
    with certain modifications and upgrades,ships could become more specialized and make the whole game more colorful


    and one last thing...
    GUNS
    all FL guns are zippy lasers, add us some heavy cannons and gatlings with the appropriate loud roaring sounds :P
