Persistance pays off !! I have just finished successfully changing the EXE and Server.DLL. I somehow figured out that i was making things too complicated. Rather than trying to understand why the values at the indicated spots were different than what the tut said, I just changed them and was able to check it's effect on a server... works like a charm as well as all the other changes I made.
Whew, now I can go on to Starspheres....[404]

this is old but for those that follow - try selecting " ignore back faces" below where you choose vertex, edge, polygon, etc. on the right in the edit menu

ok then Swat - the search continues..... I DO appreciate your speedy response tho'. You know how impatient you feel when balked by a problem..... drives ME nuts.... I'll post a reply when I find the right answer for folks who might need to know. And i'll keep checking back in case you are the one to supply it...

hey Swat , buddy i knew you would answer me. !! Im feeling particularly dense about this.... let me tell you what i see and you can let me know if i'm on the right track - each offset listed for server.dll shows a ff in the field highlighted in hex editor neo ( the fields say c3 3d ff c9 for the first - [0006f46e] with the ff highlighted as this is what makes it offset 0006f46E ) change these to ff ff ff 7f ? it throws me because it doesn't show 7fffffff like the tut says. The exe I'm using has version no. 1.0.1223.11 is this the prob.? I know 1.1 didn't affect the exe.....
all the other hacks i've attempted have been right on in the tut, so what gives.....

can anyone shed some light on the exact manner to change server.dll for the 2 billion limit? I've been able to modify the exe and some other small modifications but i dont understand when the tutorial translates the "i" after the offset as " word" for hexplorer for server.dll. the values to be changed are which?? I am able to find the offset but the numbers i see dont make much sense to me.
could anyone give me some details?
and im mystified by the long list of offsets - the fffffff7 thing i'm just not understanding.
    some help please? :(

edit: i didn't know if this was the perfect place for my question but noone seems to have an answer for me, and i figured someone else would like the info too, and this is where they'd look first.....

I had very similar problems when learning gmax.... what I did was run a search for " gmax tutorials " you'll find lots of tut's for gmax. text and video. Granted most are for trains and airplanes - but the idea is to learn the program - not WHAT you are making.... Just thot i'd throw that in.... helped me.
And yeah listen to OP-R8R i got the plug-ins here and they work....
EDIT: I'm using milkshape 1.7.6 a friend found it for me - I don't know where, but it's out there somewhere - doesn't have the thirty day thing.....
