Well, as I now encountered a big deal of new CF ships, I have to say, I like the models, they are well done, but the textures seem to be a bit lacking... I mean, compared to the vanilla freelancer ships, some CF ships seem kinda blurry and not very detailed. For example, that ship mirage-x has very bad textures, almost looks as it was painted in MS Paint :/, and that ruins the expirience of playing...

For example, the Shooting Star: a combination of white with a light blue cockpit would make it much more visually attractive, as white is often associated with modern tehnology. The current gray combination makes it look too plain... well, that's my opinion atleast.

I hope they will be better in CF 1.8

Yeah, I think it could be done, I'll give it a shot.

Do you want the blue phoenix on the last one to remain, or should I remove it? Alternatively, I could paint it in any other color, if you wish.

Nice work chief, I like it.

I'll try and work out something also :)

EDIT: Well, I have 2 options running so far. Didn't find a proper fighter pic, so I don't have it implemented yet, but it can be added later.

I have one other version in mind for later also. Tell me if you like one of these.

Well, I got some time to make myself one :D

What do you think about it?

P.S. Pheonix, if you want, I can make one for you, I love making them anyways :D

Didn't help... it's the same thing with it turned on or off...

The problem is definitely with the sound effects... I have to completely mute them. If I move the sound effect slider even an inch to the right, the problem occurs.

There's a little chat program called xfire, works ok with virtually any game, does support mics, and is free.

    You might try that.

Well, honestly, I have no idea about that, tell me how to check it and then I'll get back to ya.

I have to get on friendlier terms with the Red Hessians because I want to try out a ship sold only on their base (problem is my current terms with them are uber-mega-zomg hostile).

I saw Outcasts on their enemies list, so I've been destroying them ever since, but there's not even a slightest change in my Red Hessian relationship. Who should I attack/bribe to improve the terms atleast to neutral?

Ok I managed to pinpoint the problem.

I noticed it only happens in larger battles. I doubted it was the graphics, because the hardware I have is more than enough to run Freelancer, even with these improved graphics. So I tried something else that is present a lot in big battles: sound. When I muted the sound, all battles ran smoothly. More correctly, the problem are the sound effects. There are just so many and it seems my pc can't handle it.

Later on I'll try to get rid of the problem, maybe just lowering the sound effects will be enough, or replacing headphones with stereo speakers... anyway, thanks for the help everyone

Well, that would be the basic idea of Freelancer for me, searching through the unknown, while having complete freedom to do so. Also I liked the story and the characters a lot, I think it was really well written.

Well, I got rid of Music Coach player, but the problem continues, in many fight situations, the game tends to twitch a lot.

Now there could be lots of different solutions here... maybe my hardware can't handle the new crossfire effects but I doubt it...

I've got Windows XP service pack 2, Pentium 4 3.00 GHZ, 2 GB of RAM, graphics card is Radeon X1950.
Also, I've got a widescreen monitor, that's probably irrelevant, but it doesn't hurt mentioning I guess, heh.

    Any ideas?

Well, I got a considerable lag 2 times today, when attacked, first time by 2 wolverines, next time by komodo dragons...

My ping is 56, with 0 loss, and 0 fluct.

Someone online suggested me to restart the launcher (launcher version is 1.6)

Btw. another thing: whenever I start the launcher, it tries to install a program called Music Coach Player, but it can't because I don't have it obviusly. It tries to find it on a cd, but there is no, so I click cancel, and then the launcher opens.

Might it be the lack of that Music Coach Player? I don't see the connection but...

and harder npcs ARE a feature, since most of CF players can kill any npc w/ 2-3 shots ;) and demand even harder npcs. Get a new ship, some new equipment and practice & train & get some skills :)

Yeah, will do, because with the starter liberty ships it's way to hard...

Anyway, I might start playing multiplayer now, because it seems to be more fun, especially with such a helpful community as this one is :D

    Yeah, thanks for the welcome

Oblivion is great, I installed literally tons of mods after I got bored with the vanilla game (same thing I did with Freelancer and Crossfire), so I always get back to playing it.

You might try some patches, and definitely mods for Oblivion, there are many great ones, especially on tesnexus.com

Btw. as for Crossfire I'd like to point out a thing that's even more annoying to me, and that's the fact that some NPC ships (such as rogue ships at the beggining) have the ability to use shield batteries and nanobots. That's probably made so that the battles become harder to beat, but they aren't harder, they just take a lot more time to complete. So it gets kind of frustrating, when it takes 10 minutes for a 2 min battle, and the result will probably be the same. Any other opinions on this?

EDIT: Looks as if I came here just to whine about crossfire, but that's a wrong impression, the mod is great, these are just some details that I didn't like that much
