Here's an idea OP
why don't you put a large semi transparent pic some distance away of a large planet.
that way you can add the night and day feel to it and can be even bigger.like the same thing you did in new york with the server rules but on a larger scale.:)

hmm... this is a tough one.... go to...
C:\Documents and Settings\Mr.X\My Documents\My Games\Freelancer
and move the file (PerfOptions) somewhere just incase you like the config you set, and then play.
if this don't work, im out of ideas, and delete the auto save as well and start anew.
