OK, guys thanks for the replies, I guess I didnt wait long enough for the guide to download, I will try again later as I would like to read it.
Anyway after checking other threads I see the general "fix" seems to be delete all, re-install, So I tried that again and this time everything went OK, So now I have CF17 installed and running in Open SP. I dont have fast enough internet for online play anyway.
It probably didnt like the two copies of FLMM installed either.

I have probably missed something really obvious but.
First off i try to read the Crossfire troubleshooting guide and just get a blank page at http://www.swat-portal.com/portal/download/CFguide.swf. When I try to refresh i get script error ?/, So is this availabe for download somewhere else??.
Ok, I try to load crossfire mod and get no-where.
Using FLMM 131, and CF170. I guess there is a new exe or loader other than the original freelancer exe. I found the CF loader and as I only want SP I click on the SP button and it just closes. Anyone got any ideas
