Register a new accountpoint behind docking
rings: controlled re-entry
in RL you can re-enter the atmosphere but it wasnt 100%
certain that you wouldnt burn up or be able to pull out of terminal velocity. Docking rings
in Freelancer make it safer to re-enter.
so its more like the after-alliance research
found ways to make re-entry safer, not the other way round

Everything about weapons
in Starlancer was missles, EMP missles, dumb fire rockets, and energy based guns, both blind
fire and unguided. Armor piercing ammo wouldnt do a thing better than thsoe guns.
