I haven't had the chance to try and log onto the server, but I did let it patch completely, and got through the launcher, and on the screen to access the 24/7 server.

So in theory, all is good ^_^

DC_Hägar, you hit the nail on the head.

I went into the Freelancer folder, and manually turned off 'Read Only'.

Now it's patching. I dunno if it will work, but I can only assume it will.

*laughs* Sorry for the headache... I'm really glad this is suddenly working ^_^

    Thanks again, guys !!

Okay... Internet explorer displays the site just fine.

I think the C vs E drive is a mute point.

What does the multiplayer update really change, and why am I unable to make that change without doing it actively from the server?

I've checked to make sure... I have write access, there is nothing like a firewall or antivirus blocking server access.

    I'm not sure what else I can actually do. Without a separate update, or a way to manually update, I think I may be out of luck. ^_^;;

Unfortunately, I don't have the room on the C drive to install anything of the sort. I set that drive up specifically to be able to hold Windows and it's base components... and nothing more. It helps quite a bit with security.

And yes... I can write to any and all files.

Other than the windows Firewall in the way, I'm out of ideas.

Is there a specific method of making sure that a program has writing access? I know how to monitor programs that might get in the way, or block it... but not how to pro actively make sure that a program has access.

Quite positive on the 'full version' bit. I've been playing multiplayer on the Reballance 3.5 for a few months now.... it's just a slightly screwy mod ^_^

It's re-install time... I'm going to try disabling literally everything, and trying this again.

    We'll see if it work.

    Okay... a few questions.

There is no way to manually patch this, correct?

Second question... is there a specific port that the launcher uses? If so, I can try and free it up....

Third.... okay... so maybe there wasn't a third.

    ^_^;;

    Error E4

I didn't think about this before, but does Freelancer and/or Crossfire need to be downloaded specifically to the C:/ drive?

I don't run my computers like that, and they are downloaded to a drive set aside for games and media.

I am going to also experiment with taking the Spybot S&D TeaTimer off... it's a lot like ZoneAlarm, and I'm not sure, but maybe therein lies the problem.

Oh... and yes, I have write/modify rights. My comp. ^_^

Thanks again for the feedback... this is a zinger.

No anti-virus. Too many extraneous processes.

I have the standard windows firewall, run all my web through Firefox (*though it looks as though your launcher opens up through IE?), and have windows defender installed, along with Spybot S&D.

Do any of those programs conflict with the process?

So... I'm going to number this, to help alleviate confusion.

This was my previous post, numbered.

    Same problem.

    1,2,3) I uninstalled absolutely everything.

4,5) I downloaded a new crossfire, and FLMM

    4) I installed FLMM

    6) I opened the patch, but didn't activate it in FLMM

    7) I installed Freelancer

    8) I activated the patch

9,10) I opened Freelancer with FLMM (the multiplayer button was not clickable), and disable the 3D audio.

I quit, and re-opened the launcher.

    11) Still version 1.54.... and no option to click the multiplayer button.

I'm not sure what is wrong O_o I would guess that it was the XP-64 that I'm running, but that's being run in compatability mode, and it's doing the same thing on my other computer.

When the launcher opens up, it displays for a moment that it's 'Downloading patchrules' Then it flashes a file path. Then it immediately says 'Crossfire updates not found... only single player available'.

I don't mean to be a pain ^_^ I guess it's one of those 'hopeless patient' sorts of things.

I run a very clean setup of XPx64. I don't have anything excessive or intrusive running in the background on this computer, or my other.

I downloaded both FLMM and the Crossfire 1.7 from Lancers Reactor.

When I browse through the launcher that comes up, I end up finding a lot of dead links, and coding... I don't know if that is because of the coding/server, or if something I have running is getting in the way.

It seems like I'm 9/10ths of the way there, if I could simply figure out what is stopping my computer from connecting to the server, and patching that last step.

    Any suggestions?

    Sorry to be a pain ^_^;;

And I truly do appreciate any and all suggestions.

So... I followed the instructions to the letter.

    o_O

So... I'm new to your mod.

I've been trying to get it to sync up correctly on both of my computers here, and I have a friend cross-country that is trying to do the same. We have had no luck at all.

We wiped all previous Freelancer files of any type

    We freshly installed Freelancer

We freshly installed Freelancer Mod Manager 1.31

We installed Crossfire 1.7 (I assume that is your most recent mod version?)

    We installed Crossfire 1.7a

    Problems -
None of the 4 computers... 2 of mine, or two of his, will connect with any sort of update server. So it doesn't allow multiplayer. If you try to access it from inside the game itself, it simply crashes.

Other than going through your entire forum, post by post, I figured I would simply be direct, and ask. We enjoy your mod in single player, and unless you have a better version of the same mod, or a similar mod, that works for both single player, and multi player, we'd simply like to pass the server check, and play.

    Can anyone help, please?
