I have managed to get it to work, between the suggestions here and some testing I'm not exactly sure which step managed to get it to work, but it was working after I:

    1) Uninstalled Crossfire mod & Freelancer - looked through both the regedit and appdata and deleted and traces of the game

    2) Installed Freelancer, restarted system

    3) Installed Crossfire mod - ran installer from local drive (as opposed to network folder which I was doing before), used the default options, restarted system on completion

    4) Ran Crossfire launcher - launcher updated, ran update for Singleplayer game

Some further testing I think ISO of Freelancer appears to be OK - I have the "freelancer.exe" fine, there was a mention of a "crossfire.exe" which I don't have.

Tried the suggestion of the uninstallers above, uninstalled everything. Ran Freelancer (vanilla) to start, to create the save in my games\freelancer. Installed Crossfire mod, but I ran into the same DLL errors above.

It seems that I can run Freelancer fine in both the vanilla and the Freelancer HD versions without issue. It's just the Crossfire mod version which is causing some issues.

I tried copying the common, alchemy, MP3codec, and jflp dll files to the Freelancer Crossfire\exe folder. It got rid of some of the event viewer errors but it still crashed after the loading screen right before the main menu. Instead of having errors for all those above mentioned DLL files, it was just the "shiprange" (appears to be a new crossfire DLL?) and the "Common" DLL files.

I’ve tried this on three different machines - one Windows 11 and 2 Windows 10 machines and having the same DLL issues.

I checked directplay is enabled. I tried to reinstall freelancer and the crossfire mod to the C:\ drive per the suggestion above (each reinstall I delete the freelancer folder form "my games").

I launch the game from the "Launch Crossfire Mod" shortcut which points to Freelancer Crossfire\EXE\Freelancer.exe (I don't see a crossfire.exe).

I let the update run on the singleplayer portion. I still receive the same errors - exit code 00001 in the launcher, then checking the event viewer I get the same errors:

    I get this error for shiprange.dll, common.dll, alchemy.dll. MP3codec.dll, jflp.dll.

I'm having trouble getting crossfire to launch. Whenever I have any other shader selected other than the "no selection" option, the game does not start up. The logs from the launcher show a error code of "CODE 00000001". When I select the "no selection" option, I can get the game to launch, the cutsences play, and the load screen pops up, but before it gets to the menu the game crashes. Taking a look at the event viewer I get DLL errors for various DLL files.

    Here's one for "alchemy.dll"

This also happens for other DLLs, like ShipRange.

This is with a clean install of both freelancer and crossfire (and I do not run freelancer between the finish of the game install and the start of the crossfire install), I've tried several times to uninstall and reinstall. This happens on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers I have. Any insight would be appreciated.

I've been trying to create custom stations for a little while now. It seems like no matter what I've done I can't get them to show up in game. My models show up in Freelancer Mod Studio, but not in the game itself. I've been working in Blender, exporting as an OBJ, then importing the OBJ in Milkshape 3D, then exporting the CMP/MAT files from there, then using FL Sur Builder to create the SUR file.

Things I've tried so far include: changed the "LODranges" values in the solarArch file, changing the "type" value in the SolarArch to planet, using FLModelTool to resize the CMP and SUR file. I even tried importing one of the stations from the base game into Milkshape then re-exporting as a CMP, but ran into the same issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
