  • little help needed....

    Download the NFS High Stakes 4.50 patch and install it after freshly installing the game to your hardrive. Once the patch is installed go to the 3D Device Setup option for the game in it's subfolder from the Start Menu. Select Direct 3D Device 1 or primary Display Driver (this varies depending on your system). Once you have selected the device, go to NFSWorld and download a file from their NFS4 Utils Page called nfspatch10. This is a .dll file update taken from Porsche Unleashed that utilizes your video card better. Run nfspatch10.exe and deselect the NFS4 .dll file (you will see two files already selected, only the NFS5 .dll should be checkmarked). Follow through with the installation proceedure (keep the nfspatch10.exe file, as you can always install the old .dll file in case of trouble). Now go back to the 3D Device Setup and select Direct 3D Device 1 again (even if it is already checked - this resets the game video). Run the game and enjoy.


    Not all users have to install the new .dll file. For some lucky few the 4.50 patch does it alone.


    Finally, if you are experienceing rediculously slow game performance, go to the Need For Speed High Stakes exe file that you select from Windows' Start Menu to run the game and right click on it. Go to Properties and from there to the Compatability tab. Ensure that the compatability mode is NOT SELECTED!!! For some strange reason this was set as default when I first installed the game. It SHOULD NOT BE!!! When this is deselected the game should run as smooth as anything.

    hmm, I was online earlier today, but as you said, I can't go up on the server again. What is the reason for that it is closed? Stuffs with the new server?

  • This is getting out of control and starting to pissoff

    bummer, but why is everybody still looking at the losses, there are still coming new people to the server, why not just have a good time so that these people (I could include myself here, but I'm staying anyway) don't get wrong impressions of us. I mean, true, it would be a bummer if those members were from DC and BG, but then, what are you gonna do? Cry about it?
    Not really effective adn I can know these things, believe me, I'm constantly working on impressions so people don't wrong idea's of whatever, bit neurotic, but I like it and just take my advice, a loss is bad, but not gaining is worse.

    o sry, I thought you were talking about the skin! :P (i thought game=same or something, read too quick ^^)
    Well, I don't really know what to do about it, but as I see it you can try 3 things


    1. get new C++ files from the microsoft site, just search for it there and it will be in one of the first three hits.
    2. Get a decent No-CD crack (since it's refering to the executable), if you already have one, try without or get one from another crackgroup
    3. reinstall the game.
    (4. if you dl'ed it (high posibility ^^) then try finding another or look if there's is any commentary on it.)

    Well, I'd have to disagree, English is indeed harder then it looks. I personaly dislike German very much (just he language, no offense :P ), but maybe because I've only been doing that for only 3 years and not everyday or anything. I've been learning English since I was 5 in all kind of ways (I got my first pc back then :] ).
    You all get bombed to death with American and sadly alot of people think that IS English, but English has much more to it then American, I can tell you that. Unfortunatly, I can't give a n example at the moment and no, I'm not refering to American slang, 'cause England has the too.
    And yes, basic grammar rules might not be so much, but al exceptions they make all the time and other little thingies make it an almost impossible language to learn if you don't start soon.
    So yes, I do want to give an applause to people here learning English.
