By reviving an old topic, I mean that you go way back in the forum to find old topics that were posted ages ago.
YOu then bump the now useless topic back to the top where it sits to annoy people.
    Kind of like eh, example:

    topic: Should Kisanth be banned?
    Topic created: 4.5.2003

    Post 1: blahblah
    Post 2: blahblah
    post 3: blah
    post 4: Don is freaky
    post 5: blah.

This topic would be on the last page or something, then, on 6.6.2004 a spammer replies to it with "yeah ban the f**"

1 year later, noone wil care about the topic anymore and replying to it will result in people flaming you

In our forum however, things get proned away pretty fast so it can't happen in such an extreme way.

Eh nvm I think you were joking there

Kasumi, from Dead or Alive - kinda like mortal kombat

    See?

Got me a free x-box btw

    eh whatever

Spam, is it only fake meat or is there more to it?

    S.P.A.M.,
    Stupid Pointless Annoying Message(s)

To me, something that is stupid, annoying, pointless and a message, is spam.

As the years went by, things changed and people started using the word "spam" in various different ways.

Today, posting something, then replying to that very post is considered spamming too. The person who does that is referred to as either a spammer or a n00b
    Why is that spam?

    Editing
Well, as you know, there is this feature called edit and many people don't give a flying fuck about that button
    It looks like this
I don't know that much about php but what I do know is that spamming like this, takes up valuable space on servers. I haven't seen anyone post like that here though, just giving my opinion and some info on the history of spam.
Not using edit isn't entirely spam though. Most of the time, the post is not pointless.
You might have forgotten to edit or you might want to reply to bump up a good thread. That isn't spam

    Crossthreading
This isn't spam either but could and should be treated as spam.
Crossthreading means that when you or somebody posts a topic about, lets say, a cheater who killed you... You can talk in that thread/topic about it. But, sometimes people go to a different topic and talk about something that was or is being discussed in another topic. Imagine me talking about that cheater who killed me, EVERYWHERE.
Eventually, one topic could and will dominate the forum. This usually means that everyone gets frustrated (could be used as a mental tactic hehe) and leaves because you can't have a decent topic without somebody yelling, "oh and btw blahbla" about something that is discussed elsewhere.
It's hard too see this kind of spam, 99% of the time it is unintentionally. Most people don't even know it exists.

    Pictures/smilyspam
Back in 2001, it was cool to use pictures like this one:

This trend raged on for a few years and I still do it =P
Often, people post only the picture with no text added to it. I don't consider that spam. What is spam however is posting the picture when it has nothing to do with the topic. Doesn't happen that much though, some guy used to put pics like that on one of those "free imagehost"s. They keep the picture on their server for 30 days then the space is cleared for something else, so eh watch out or the pic might change.

Smilies, lots of em, pure spam+crashes IE for some reason (hehe)

Posting a topic noone really needs or cares about like I am doing right now might be spam too =P

    so whatcha think?
