Two things from my side to the topic... You can make quite a good amount of dil when you got some kdf on your account. They get a lot of contraband for the marauding missions (e.g. disable <generic race> freighter, ransack colony, blockade, etc..)
So when you focus on that you will need some security officiers but you can get around 10 contraband per kdf char easily.
5 contraband can be exchanged for 2k dil (doff mission 4h duration) at every security officer (found in any major location). So every kdf supports (at least) one fed char making 2k everyday with some easy klicks per char.
Another a bit boring in doing it everyday is the foundry spotlight mission, i use the sword of the mug 'thar [fed] (spelling error) or betrayal of the empire (1) [kdf]. Each mission takes around 15 min and will reward you ~2k dill.
