Ich hatte ein ähnliches Problem auf meinem Laptop. Benutzte nicht die High-Res Texturen und in den in-game Optionen, reduziere die Graphic optionen solange bis die texturen wieder normal aussehen. Hat für mich geklappt.

You could try this link for 2 different versions of FlHook. I use 1.6.7 for my Mod and it works perfectly.

I think we are all spoiled by mods that have the cruise and trade lane speeds set higher than it was in original FL. I personally don't mind the slower speeds again. There is nothing to stop anyone to increase the speeds in OSP if you know what you're doing.
As to the money making bit, I like to start it slow and build my fortunes to buy better ships and equipment. If this happens to quick it just spoils everything and boredom will eventually set in.

I still got both games on my shelf. Some of the very few I would never get rid off. A sequel would be great. Loved the games.

If this is OP's final decision, then I respect this and wish him all the best. He created an awesome mod with 1.9 and I was looking forward to 2.0 as his legacy. Something I would still be playing in years to come.
He has shown a hell of a lot more patience than I would have managed to muster. So respect where respect is due.

You could also try Diaspora: Shattered Armistice. It's a Freespace total Conversion and you won't need to have Freespace installed. Multiplayer is still in beta. But best of all, it's free. Release date was September 2012.

I placed my vote for CF. I tried other mods of course, and all have positive and negative sides. CF gave me the most fun and re-playability of any mod so far. Just haven't got time to play online atm. I did the SP and finished the story line. So as soon as I have a bit more time I try to come online.
