I have an aging laptop that I'm thinking about upgrading. The current motherboard will take a Socket M Core 2 Duo CPU 2 ghz Merom Core, and up to 2 gigs DDR2. I have discovered that the current motherboard bios limits the Intel GMA 950's Dynamic Video Memory to 64 MB, so I would need a motherboard swap to get a maximum 224 mb shared video memory available..
I am curious if Freelancer Crossfire will run if I spend the money. I currently get texture tearing because of the lack of video memory allocated; otherwise, the game runs as well as can be expected on a Merom Celeron.
Will Freelancer Crossfire 1.9 know that the video memory will increase if needed, or will I still see texture tearing? As in, any words that are on screen become stretched and flash randomly across the view. A bit of research suggests that the list of known devices is updated by the mod.
    Please advise.

I suppose its for the hard core, if you will. But then, if everyone wants to explore, then why is there a reference guide provided by one of the clans?

I don't recognize your logic, and I feel that there would be popular support for that sort of thing. There could be a negotiable amount of mystery, where Altair, X, and Inner Core are unmapped; however, if someone makes a new character, then they have to either ask someone, use the reference, bounce over to a new character, or guess.

It's not my mod, but if you're looking to increase the population of the server then this is my suggestion. At least a minimum amount of map available to everyone, and perhaps you could release an update after everyone has explored.

My position is that systems that exist in Freelancer before the mod is applied should be mapped. Additions to systems as a result of the mod should not be mapped. But who cares? Really, there are ways around it, and as I think about it I realise I don't want to fly with people who are not willing to do some legwork.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!!! And if you guys decide to have the Navigation Map and Trade Prices complete by default, I can Guarantee that the Mod's popularity will soar!!!

Good call, man, and thanks for your hard work. I have tried playing Discovery, and I just can't do it after playing your Mod.

The third Friday of July cannot come soon enough.

I searched for suggestions about Turret View and cruisers/destroyers/battleships (the larger ships). The original, unmodified game only had fighters and freighters.

The "camera" setting enabled in "H" so that you can fire in any direction needs to be addressed. I suggest that an option be placed in the launcher to change the distance of the View Camera from the Center of Rotation around the Ship, so that the player can see the ship and surrounding area at the same time, especially when flying a Destroyer and taking on multiple NPCs. The solution may shrink opposing ship size, but it is preferable to being blind and relying on the targeting system for aiming.

An alternative would be to make it so the larger ships are transparent in turret view; the Rheinland is almost transparent now. I have no idea if the engine can support this approach. They did that sort of business in multiplayer Colin Mcrae 2005.

I believe that the launcher or other programming fixes the alignment of the GUI for widescreen, so adjusting the camera upon start or install should be an easy task.
