    Hi!

Some time ago, i made a ship model for the Crossfire mod.
Now i want to replace it with an improved version of the model (now has a cockpit instead of a hole) but i'm having some problems...
The model part is ok, i already have it ingame. But now, when i buy my ship (which has 70 cargo space), the cargo shows:
"Available Cargo Space -330 units out of 70 units".

Anyone knows which could be the cause of this?

the only changes i did to ini files were the following:

    GOODS.INI:

addon = ge_csv_engine_01, internal, 1 (replaced a red engine fx with a yellow one)

addon = SlowSmallOrange, HpRunningLight07, 1 (added this line because i added an additional light hardpoint to the new model)

    SHIPARCH.INI:

cockpit = cockpits\custom\crusadercpit.ini (changed the cockpit to an existing one which actually fits with the ship model)

camera_offset = 12, 42 (adjusted the camera offsets so the ship angle is the same as stock ships of similar size.)

That's all, i didn't change anything else. the cargo hold line in shiparch.ini is unchanged:

    hold_size = 70

    Any ideas?

EDIT: After some tests, i confirmed it's not the shiparch.ini, but the goods.ini file.

EDIT2: The issue was that the ge_csv_engine_01 has a "volume = 400.000000" in engine_equip.ini. Thanks NucNuc for confirming the cause.

    Hi!

Is there any compilation of guidelines for making ships, with examples?

I mean, common ship shapes (if any), common color schemes, allowed decals, material style etc for every faction, and examples, so people know what to do and what not to do when making a ship.

This is not good, after so many years of development, and especially when being so close to a final version of the mod...

I'm sure you have your reasons for not being motivated, but as snake2d said, all the user input in here are (or must be taken as) suggestions.

Every game/mod has complainers, because it's impossible to please everyone. But that happens in every forum. The best thing is to just ignore them.

Maybe you really need to make a stop on this mod for a time, and renew energy. But don't quit, just hold on for some time if you need to, before you return for finishing Crossfire.

Anyway, remember that first of all, this is YOUR mod, so your vision should prevail.

Although i personally prefer red-gray for the reason i mentioned before, I like any of them, as long as it fits with something in the crossfire universe.

I did the UVmapping with Zmodeler before making the texture. Then i did a template of the mapping and made the texture with that template.
UVmapping with zmodeler is not very difficult, as long as the model is not too complex. UVmapping this ship took me about an hour.

Here are 8 different textures in a RAR file: https://www.box.com/s/2guzynowxk4i8q5snz4f

Te attached pic shows the textures included in the RAR.

Although the "white" color combos (right column) are more eye-catching, i personally prefer the ones in the left column, because they are more realistic.
The metallic (no paintjob) texture is also nice, as many of the vanilla Freelancer ships have no paintjob, too.

    Files

The "more plated" is not a bad idea, as i also felt that the texture lacked some "detail", but the plates don't fit with the shape of the ship (wings, etc..) Also, that kind of "plated" is good for capital ships, but small fighters seem like they were quickly applied a generic texture.

I'm working in another decoration, i have added a "more plated and dirty" layer, but less prominent, and i've adapted it to fit with the shape of the wings. I have to add more details, but you can see it in general. I've chosen a white-red color scheme, but the colors can be changed to those of a different faction. What do you think about it?

PS: the bee logo in the pic is only for lulz.

Well, there are already tons of ships in crossfire, so i really didn't expect my ship to be anything special.

If you've played Galaxy on Fire 1, you will realise that the ship is based on the "Hawk" ship (it was my favourite ship in GOF1). http://images.wikia.com/galaxyonfire/images/1/1f/Hawk.jpg
I've always wanted to be able to pilot that ship in Freelancer, that's the reason why i made this one.

However, if i have enough time, i might do another "VHF" variant of this ship, with the same style but bigger and more badass.

SWAT_OP-R8R, as you are the admin here, i think you should be the one who decides the ship type, name, faction and paintjob. I still have the PSD file for the texture, so it will be no difficult to make a new paintjob which fits better with whichever faction you want this ship in. Just tell me how do you want it and i'll make it.

The ship has no name yet. Any ideas?

Also, should it be a Light fighter? Heavy fighter? (of course it's small to be a VHF)

Is there someone experienced who wants to port it to FL? If so, which format is needed?
I already have it in 3ds format. Everything is already UVmapped, so you only have to apply the texture.
Now that we speak of textures, is it ok in 1024x1024? I can make any other paintjob if it fits better with whatever faction you want the ship to be in, so just ask.
